Terms of use

Last updated 3 September 2026

These terms cover the Calio iPhone app and the getcalio.com website, provided by Tristan Jarrett. By using Calio you agree to them.

Calio is not medical advice

Calio is a self-tracking tool for general wellness. It is not a medical device and does not give medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. The calorie and macro targets it calculates are estimates based on standard formulas and the details you enter, and may not be right for you.

Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, particularly if you are pregnant, under 18, have a medical condition, take medication, or have a history of disordered eating.

Nutrition data

Food information comes from public sources such as USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts, from manufacturers, and from foods people enter themselves. We do not verify every entry and cannot guarantee it is accurate or current. Check the packaging where it matters, especially for allergens.

Your licence

You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Calio on devices you own, for your own non-commercial use, in line with the App Store Terms of Service.

What you agree not to do

Your content

What you log stays yours. Because it lives on your device and in your own iCloud, keeping backups is up to you. We hold no copy and cannot restore anything. You can export your data from inside the app at any time.

Our content

The Calio name, icon, design, and software are ours and protected by copyright. Nothing here transfers those rights to you.

Third-party services

Calio works alongside services we do not control, including Apple iCloud, Apple Health, and public nutrition databases. Their own terms apply to them.

Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue Calio or any feature at any time, and will update the app to keep it working with new versions of iOS. We aim to keep the food service up but do not promise uninterrupted service.

Purchases

Any in-app purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. Refunds are requested through Apple.

No warranty

Calio is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of data, arising from your use of Calio. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and continuing to use Calio means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protections of your local law.
